HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

The Committee has four primary functions:
  • to identify existing and proposed legislation in the areas of environmental control, consumer protection, health and safety and to assess its implications for the paint industry.
  • to determine what position the industry should take on existing and proposed legislation in these areas.
  • to encourage the adoption and observance of safe practices within the industry and in connection with the use of its products.
  • to advise Council and the industry representatives on the WPCIA on Occupational Health and Safety on all matters affecting health and safety in the union/industry interface.
  • to encourage the interchange of information between WPCIA member companies on matters affecting safe operating procedures.

TECHNICAL COMMITTEE

The Committee has three primary functions:

  • to maintain an overview of and participate in the establishment of the legislation, standards, codes of practice and other regulations which impact on the manufacture and use of paints and inks.
  • to develop policies and strategies to advance the interests of local coatings manufacturers in the manufacturing and consumer areas.
  • to act as a focal point for the industry in addressing technical issues which may come up from time to time, either of a general and specific nature, which impact on the formulation of paints and inks, their manufacture and use.

LOGISTICS COMMITTEE

The Committee has five primary functions:

  • to review the legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and other instruments which impact on the packaging, storage and distribution of products originating from coatings manufacturers.
  • to develop policies and strategies to promote the interests of coatings manufacturers in the areas of packaging, storage and distribution.
  • to act as a focal point for the industry in addressing issues which impact on the packaging, storage and distribution of coatings.
  • to liaise on behalf of the coatings industry with relevant statutory authorities and other interested parties.
  • to inform members of developments relevant to their operations and to publish codes of practice, guidelines and other information that may be considered necessary.
